December 15th, 2010

It gets more and more difficult to find new pictures to display of Emma as she gets older. I mean, there are only so many pictures of Emma with horses, or chickens that we can show here. That being said, here are pictures for the months of February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November 2010.

Do you have a Hewlett Packard LaserJet IIP printer? We do! It is probably well over 17 years old (older than our marriage!), and is a good, solid printer, though it has had a few parts replaced in recent years. I thought I would photograph the steps involved disassembling it when I recently replaced a couple of controller boards. Disassembly is actually not that difficult.

Did you ever wonder what happens to abandonded and stray dogs? The lucky ones get shipped across country by volunteer organizations and fostered in peoples homes, before being adopted. We have recently been involved in fostering some lucky dogs.

Also took the opportunity to make some minor organization changes under the hood.

February 5, 2010

OK so it has been a few months since the last update, but hope you will find the wait worthwhile. There are Emma pictures for the months of September, October, November, December 2009, and January 2010.

We have a new addition to our menagerie: Holly, a German Shorthaired Pointer puppy (pictured right). She has her own page where you can see more pictures of her.

August 31, 2009

Tomorrow it will be September 1st, and summer is almost over, with most kids going back to school soon. It is time to put up some new Emma pictures to show what we have done over summer. Here are pictures from June, July, and August 2009.

June 18, 2009

Its been a while (5 months, oops) since I put some new Emma pictures up, so here are pictures from January, February, March, April, and May 2009. Also tweaked my page a little (I'm now on Facebook). I should really go through the other pages that haven't been updated for a while and tweak them too.

January 18, 2009

Happy new year! OK - a little late, but it is still January, and here are the latest batch of Emma pictures: October, November, and December 2008.

October 3, 2008

Whew! Summer has been and gone, and it feels like it was only just about to start. Now autumn has arrived, and with it, catch up pictures of Emma for the months of June, July, August, and September 2008.

June 5, 2008

Well, after 5 months of on-off work, I can now reveal the long-awaited update to my website. Some reorganization of pages, and a new cascading stylesheet (CSS) based menu for ease of use (no javascript required) are introduced today. This has taken a long time due to the painful quirks of Internet Explorer regarding CSS, and my insistence that everything should look and feel the same regardless of what browser you use to view these pages. Thank you VMware for your virtualization software that allows me to run Windows 2000 in a Windows XP window, and within that to run instances of Internet Explorer v5.0 and v6.0 (since IE v7.0 is on my XP PC). These pages have been rigorously tested on Mozilla Firefox v2.0 (my browser of choice), and Internet Explorer v5.0, v6.0 and v7.0, since these are the most commonly used browsers according to my web server logs. There may be subtle differences in comparing pages viewed with these browsers but hopefully any are minor. Some of these pages still need a little extra content, but the basics are done; to a certain extent they will always be somewhat of a work in progress.

I hope you enjoy the new look and feel. If you experience any problems (especially if you use a web browser other than the ones mentioned above) please let me know via my feedback page.

This month also catches up with Emma, with new pictures for the months of January, February, March, April, and May 2008.

These pages are dedicated to the memories of my Uncle Eric of South Africa who died in December 2007, and my Aunt Jo of New Zealand who died in April 2008.
